ABOUT US |

Driven by a shared architectural vision, designers Corentin Lefebvre and Maxim Lannaux create timeless pieces where aesthetics and functionality converge. They unite craftsmanship with innovation. Their collaboration emerged through their interest in interior design whilst studying at the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Mechelen and later through their architectural studies at the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Ghent.

From an early age, Corentin and Maxim were both fascinated by craftsmanship and the beauty of materials.

Corentin often assisted his father in his joinery workshop, known for its high-end wooden custom work serving prominent Belgian artists.

Maxim grew up in the family business, a well-established name in Belgian forest exploitation. This background gives the duo access to premium Belgian-sourced wood species.

This heritage has lead to a deep respect for local materials, precision, and sustainability values that form the foundation of each design.

All Lefebvre Lannaux creations are conceived, developed, and execu- ted entirely in their own studio.
This close involvement ensures complete control over every aspect of the process — from concept to tangible result.

5.8 COLLECTIONN

With the 5.8 collection, LEFEBVRE | LANNAUX makes its debut with a series of pieces that develop from an architectural design language. Each design arises from an interplay of lines and volumes, brought together through rationally constructed joints. Our design language aims for simplicity and structural logic, allowing the pieces to exist serenely within their context. The collection is rooted in classical architectural style, from which characteristic elements have inspired us. These elements form the foundation of functionally designed monoliths that convey stability and robustness. We deliberately break this powerful character with an added, more fragile layer that only becomes visible when the pieces are approached up close. This tension between the robust and the delicate lies at the heart of the 5.8 collection. The collection is based on a proprietary proportional system, starting from the measurement of 5.8 centimeters as its smallest unit. This is reflected in the use of square end grain wood, where the organic grain subtly contrasts with the rational logic of the designs. The result is a poetic tension that enhances the architectural language of the collection.

Each piece in the 5.8 collection is crafted from solid oak, selected and locally sourced by the family-run company Lannaux. The harvested wood is sawn and dried in Flanders. Afterwards, the raw materials are personally processed and finished through a multilayered procedure that provides both coloration and protection of the material. The elements are solidly made from end grain oak beams, a material renowned for its exceptional durability and distinctive visual character. The visible end grain fibers create a richly textured surface, enhancing the earthy, almost stone-like quality of the pieces. The dark-stained wood, with its expressive grain, emphasizes the tactile and grounded nature of the designs. Cantilevered forms create a spatial tension between weight and lightness, between mass and void..
